Due to the increasing amount of image material Calex has invested in an online database from which all image material can be downloaded with a few clicks of a button. From one image to an entire portfolio downloaded at once, this system makes it possible.

All-in-one

With this online image bank Calex can easily make image material like; product images, packshots, energy labels and lifestyle images available. This makes it easier for retailers to complete their online collection with supporting images. Of course the images can also be used for leaflets and other printed matter.

Since the launch of the Calex Smart collection in 2019, new developments and products have followed each other in impressive succession. Calex started with a modest collection of regular (multicoloured) smart lamps, distinctive atmospheric lamps in both XXL and smaller sizes and a number of devices to introduce people to smart comfort at home. Since then the portfolio has rapidly expanded to include security items, a fully integrated outdoor portfolio and various indoor items.

Newest category

The newest addition to Calex Smart is the Indoor collection. From adjustable smart built-in spots in 3 colors and a smart Christmas lightstring of 25 metres to a stylish Floorlamp, Ambient light and Moodlight. The last two are perfectly suitable for side tables or as a night light. The developments follow each other rapidly at Calex. Next quarter five more product launches are planned.

Creators of limitless solutions

Calex is known as a lifestyle brand with the slogan: Creators of ambiance. With the smart collection, Calex has added a scoop on top. From now on, the brand will advertise the smart collection as Creators of limitless solutions. With this Calex plays on the versatility of the products and the literally endless smart solutions that these items can offer. A complete smart ecosystem, easy to install, attractively priced, controlled by one free app.

Per September 2021 the lighting market has undergone some fundamental changes. Calex explains what these changes mean for you.

New regulations

We all want to protect the environment. We do this by constantly improving the durability of our products and by designing and shipping packaging as ecologically as possible. Now, a new EU regulation 2019/2020 on lighting (Single Lighting Regulation – SLR) and a new EU regulation 2019/2015 on energy labelling (Energy Label Regulation – ELR) have been put together. Everyone in the lighting industry must comply with these new regulations.

These regulations no longer distinguish between lamps and luminaires, they only concern the light sources. The energy efficiency will therefore be evaluated only for the light source. The product characteristics per lamp are documented in the EPREL database (European Product Database for Energy Labelling).

But what will be noticable for you?

• The existing packaging will be slightly modified in terms of design. They will be equipped with the latest energy labels with QR codes that link directly to the EPREL database and clear energy classification.
• All light sources from the EU are included in the EPREL database. Everybody has access to this database, so complete transparency.
• New energy labels with new classification. Light sources are becoming more and more economical and were already in the highest energy categories (A+++, A++, A+, A, B…) until September 2021. Instead of adding more + to the labels, it was decided to introduce a new scale. This has become A to G. So the lamp will not suddenly be less energy efficient after September 2021, the classification works differently now and will be able to withstand future energy-saving developments for the coming years.
• Until March 2023 the existing products may still be sold without a label change. After that, it is possible that some products will no longer be marketed in the EU tomorrow and will therefore not be available for sale.

Decorative light sources

The official definition of a light source is as follows: “A light source is an electrically working product that emits white light. This can be a lamp, a module or a luminaire with fully integrated components. Luminaires may consist of a light source (fully integrated luminaire) or may contain one or more light sources (containing product)”. As a result, our decorative light sources no longer all fall under the denominator “light source” and therefore do not have an energy label in all cases. Of course, we still indicate the consumption of the lamp on the packaging and the lamp base by means of the wattage.

Detailed label

With the entry into force of the EU ELR 2019/2015 regulation, all light sources must be included in the EPREL database (European Product Database for Energy Labelling) from 1 September 2021. All light sources have been assessed and relabelled according to sustainability and ecological aspects.

The new labels look slightly different, but contain the same information as before. Only the Energy Value ladder now runs from A to G instead of A++ to E and each article now has a product-specific QR code that links to the EPREL database.

In addition to the Calex Smart portfolio for indoor, the brand now also comes with a complete Smart range for outdoor! A smart garden has never been easier. Manage them from the same Calex app that you already use for your existing Calex Smart products and adapt them to your personal preferences.

Stylish lighting solutions

Enjoy the endless possibilities with a variety of stylish lighting solutions for your garden. Classic, modern, industrial, Calex has it! From wall lamps to led strip and ground spots to security lamp. No separate lamps in outdoor fixtures, but fully integrated smart systems that work on Bluetooth Mesh. Regardless of the size of your garden or the number of items placed, these weatherproof products are all connected to each other.

Easy control

Switch from ambient warm white light in the garden to 100+ colour options to suit your mood. The Smart Outdoor items are easy to connect. To clarify the installation process Calex has made instruction videos per product. A smart garden has never been easier.

Coming September Calex really has everything in the field of lighting. The brand launches battery operated lighting solutions for places where there is no electricity available. Battery, rechargeable, solar, indoor or outdoor with SPOT ON Calex offers solutions for every lighting problem.

These 9 articles have the advantage that they can illuminate a dark space without an electricity point. From spots to wall lamps, ceiling lamps to led strips and even outdoor items that work on solar energy. The SPOT ON collection of Calex is versatile and multifunctional. Even simple mounting. Stick, screw or attach magnetically, choose what suits the surface best.

Indoor

The basic line is equipped with items for indoor with battery. Thanks to the ingenious motion sensors, the batteries of these products can last up to six months. For Calex it does not stop once you have purchased one or more attractively priced Calex Smart products. They listen carefully to feedback from the market and look for improvements and innovations to further stimulate the use of the existing products. Compatibility with external parties such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Siri and simplification of use are very important aspects here.

New features

By looking at trends and events with a hefty dose of creativity, the latest feature was recently launched. The music function in RGB Multicolour lamps makes it possible to change the colour of your lamp to the beat of the music being played. Perfect for all your home concerts, shows and house parties! In short, after purchasing your Calex Smart product the brand continues to provide a unique experience with these continuous free updates and features.

The creators of ambiance have done it again. In a time where so much is globally insecure, Calex went against the odds and successfully opened an Experience Center in the heart of Rotterdam. The Experience center is a place where both retail and consumers can come to get inspired by all Calex has to offer, including Smart!

IoT House

To further promote their Tuya partnership Calex created an IoT house inside the center with a floorspace up to 40m2. In this IoT house all Smart items are connected to one another showing the full range potential and its simplicity in use. “It’s top quality, top functionality, top connectivity, but at a fair price. Future growth

The Tuya partnership enabled Calex to strengthen their position in the consumer lighting industry but also gave them possibilities for a broader product diversification and future growth. Together Tuya and Calex will continue developing smart products that enhance living comfort and ambiance at home and growing the customer base in Europe.
