31 years of finding solutions

27 October 2026

31 years at Electro Cirkel. And Peter Jansen still hasn’t had two days quite the same. Ask Peter what he enjoys most about his work, and he’ll tell you it’s the customers. Especially when they come to him with a challenge that needs solving.

In the maritime industry, time is often the biggest challenge. A vessel is preparing to sail, a ship chandler needs specific electrical equipment, and there’s little room for delays.

As Peter likes to put it: “Sometimes we deliver to the same customer several times a day. It’s all about making sure they get exactly what they need, when they need it, so everything is on board before the ship sails.”

But Peter doesn’t just know our customers. He knows our products inside out. Together with our purchasing team, he helps decide what belongs on our warehouse shelves. Which products are customers asking for? Where can we improve the range? And how do we offer good quality at a competitive price without compromising availability?

He also regularly travels with our Head of Purchase, Glenn van Driel, to visit manufacturers and trade fairs, often in China. Peter particularly enjoys factory visits. Seeing how products are made tells you much more than a catalogue ever could.

And after 31 years, he’s built up quite a bit of knowledge himself. Knowledge he’s happy to share with younger colleagues.

It’s that combination of customer contact, product knowledge and the occasional last-minute challenge that keeps Peter enjoying his work.

Because at Electro Cirkel, supplying ship chandlers isn’t just about having the products. It’s about knowing what they need and making sure they get them in time.
